I got a chance to sit down with 7-figure course creator Lisa Parmley founder of CourseMethod.com to share my successful almost eleven-year journey as a 6-figure online course/program creator and how this has impacted my life and business.
How I got started creating online programs
I have been offering online programs for the past decade, I launched my first-ever online program in January 2012 and have been offering online programs ever since. In 2011 I got myself and my kids off welfare through the internet, using online marketing techniques most people didn’t know how to use yet – let alone know how to use them together in the way we do now.
My very first online program was teaching other entrepreneurs how to set up their own online marketing strategy. I ran that program from 2012 to 2016 and helped primarily female entrepreneurs set up their businesses online or use the internet to lead clients to their brick-and-mortar businesses.
I would organize live meet-ups where my clients could network and meet other entrepreneurs because working from home can be quite lonely for some. I have always worked with a team so I have a lot of interaction daily, but most solo entrepreneurs tend to feel pretty isolated in their entrepreneurship. Unless you have friends who own a business, good luck trying to discuss your business with friends and family – it hardly ever works out because they often don’t understand your work or often even know how to support you.
How my online programs & courses evolved
From online marketing, my own path brought me on the Twin Flame journey, and when I launched my Twin Flame program in January 2017 there weren’t that many people offering programs on this subject, and the ones I bought were badly put together and only scratched the surface of the transformation process that the Twin Flame experience entails. Most of them were focused on the outcome of a physical union which as highly desired as it is, does not capture the essence of what the Twin Flame journey is truly about. So I filled the void that was created by everyone focusing on the romantic outcome and took my clients through the spiritual transformation process that meeting one’s Twin Flame initiates. I had over 300 students follow this program and it was considered one of the best Twin Flame programs in the industry.
But just as I had outgrown my online marketing business, my own spiritual growth took me beyond the Twin Flame phenomenon and led to the creation of my two current programs ‘Coming into Oneness’ and the Soul Embodiment® Therapy certification program which are both geared toward healing the separation between the ego and the soul on a personal level as well as on a professional level. A process I was taken through on my own healing journey as well as one that I facilitated professionally in my one-to-one Soul Embodiment® Therapy journeys with clients.
Next to my online programs, I have also created various online courses such as The Love Project and the course I am currently running called Tap Into Your Cosmic Bank Account where we heal and transform our relationship with money.
How becoming an online course creator changed my life
In my interview with Lisa, I share how I got here, the mistakes I made along the way, the doubts and fears I faced but of course also the joys and perks of having created the freedom to live my life on my terms.
Instead of having my life be dictated to me by my circumstances, I have been able to create the circumstances I want which include living in the country of my choice, sharing my life with the people that are the most important to me (i.e. I took my mother with me) and being able to live my life according to my own rhythm or for example travel whenever I want for however long I want.
In fact, being an online course creator allowed me to become a digital nomad and travel the world for two years with my teenage son and my mother. This allowed us to create memories as a family that I will cherish forever. It was one of the best decisions ever to go on this adventure together and experience life in a completely different way.
Why entrepreneurs should create their own signature program too
If you are an entrepreneur or a therapist, healer, and so on I can highly recommend adding your own signature program to your one-to-one sessions as a way to scale your business. Not only because it increases revenue, but because it increases impact and extends your capacity to transform your clients’ lives as you can increase the number of people that you take through the same or a similar process as you would take your one-to-one clients over time. It helps you maximize your time, instead of being limited by the hours in the day to a maximum amount of people you can work with one-to-one.
