Soul Path Series: Part VII – The Lifetimes In Between & Further Fragmentation

The Soul Path series is an eight-article series by Sabriyé Dubrie of Soul Teachings on the origin of our Soul path ‘birth’ and our evolution into the (human) incarnation experience. The teachings shared are gleaned from my own healing journey on a Soul path level and my experience in working with over a thousand clients using the Soul Embodiment® Therapy method. For those interested in learning this method as a therapist, I run a yearly Soul Embodiment® Therapy Certification Program to train therapists worldwide in this revolutionary healing modality.

This is part VII, you can read Part VI – The Incarnation Wound, The Ego Split From Soul here (click link).

In this Soul teaching on The Lifetimes In Between & Further Fragmentation you will learn:

  • Why we have spent lifetime upon lifetime healing the different strands of one and the same wound
  • How we use each current life experience to heal our unresolved past by PLAYING OUT our wounding
  • How we are healing only a handful of wounds throughout all our lifetimes which we have on rinse and repeat
  • How we split off parts of the self (further fragmentation) and how to retrieve them
  • And more…

How our Soul Path wounds set the tone for our lifetimes in between

It’s not until the incarnation wound that we are fully locked into the reincarnation process and bound to the cycle of death and rebirth. But none of these concepts are all or nothing – rather it’s an evolving process that locks us deeper and deeper into physical form as we further densify our energies to become human. Although we have been human since the time of Atlantis, we were still in the process of becoming fully human by releasing the parts that were connected to our Soul gifts. Because the incarnation wound is the split between the ego and the Soul, it represents the moment when we become fully human and start playing the incarnation game the way we had intended it.

All the lifetimes we have had in between our incarnation wound and our current lifetime are the lifetimes in between.

These are hundreds and thousands of lifetimes because we can incarnate up to four or even more times in one century depending on how long we live each lifetime. We can even incarnate multiple times in the same ancestral lineage, i.e. Earth family. We also know that the incarnation wound took place in the late Atlantean era and the early Ancient Egyptian era. Although the Atlantean era itself lasted between 4 to 5 million years, Atlantis is believed to have sunk around 13,400 years ago. This corresponds with the theory of Yugas (cycles of 12,000 years) discussed in Part V – Atlantis, The Start Of Humanity & Dragon Consciousness

Even though we do accumulate more wounding during the incarnation process, all accumulated wounding serves only one purpose and that is to heal our split from Source wound, the split of the Masculine & Feminine, and our incarnation wound which is a micro version of the split from Source wound. It may seem as if we create new wounds, but in reality, we just create different strands of themes connected to these three major Soul Path wounds that we play out in an attempt to heal them. The ONLY reason, why a wound seems to stand on its own is because it hasn’t been connected back into the deeper pattern it belongs to. No, one wound or lifetime can be separated from the pattern and strand or thread it belongs to.

If there is a traumatic experience, it belongs to a longer strand of experiences that connect all the way back to our earliest Soul Path wounds. Most people even those that work with past lives don’t know this, but a past life in and of itself isn’t that interesting. The pattern or theme strand it belongs to is what we are looking for because it leads us back to the root cause on a Soul Path level.

The ultimate root cause and the wound that holds our deepest pain is our split from Source and what we made it mean about ourselves, the Divine, and life. This doesn’t mean that there aren’t various root causes at a lower level of the incarnation journey, rather it means that when we get to the split from Source wound we can often pull out a cluster of patterns that all connect into the same theme/strand. The closer we get to the true root cause of all our wounding, the more the wounds clump together around the same root cause.

How we PLAY out what we haven’t cleared out

We bring our unresolved pain and trauma in with us into each new lifetime. whether it’s the unresolved pain and trauma of what was done to us or the unresolved pain and trauma from what we have done to others, our samskaras (past life imprints) and karma (misinterpretations and misunderstandings) are held in the Causal body that follows us from lifetime to lifetime. For this reason, and because the Causal body is an etheric ‘body’ sustained by the seed of karma, it’s also called the Karmic body.

The Causal or Karmic body creates the lower subtle (energy) bodies and gross body for each lifetime based on the information held in our Karmic templates. Remember karma is not a reward or punishment, it’s our unresolved past that we are subconsciously holding onto INCLUDING where others have hurt us. Karma describes the fact that our unresolved past follows us from lifetime to lifetime, it’s not a description of whether our unresolved past is good or bad, nor is it an accumulation of our so-called ‘bad’ deeds aka sins. Karma is a completely neutral mechanism, that simply allows us to bring with us our understanding of the incarnation game into the next level (lifetime), we can’t take our understanding with us without taking our misinterpretations and misconceptions with us as well, that’s what karma is.

Because we carry the energetic imprints and the stuck emotions as well as the mental patterns we created in response to our unresolved past all of this gets baked into the cake, each time the Causal body creates a new mental, emotional, vibrational, physical, and astral body.

We’re never really born with a clean slate, at least not on a subconscious level because we are dragging our unresolved past with us. In the same way that our conscious beliefs don’t create our reality, but our subconscious beliefs pull in the people, situations, and experiences that match its belief system, our subconscious vibrational frequency does the same.

People who obsess about their conscious vibrational frequency are often unaware of the world of pain they are carrying subconsciously that is creating their life accordingly. In fact, the more you suppress the so-called negative or shadow side because you’re afraid it will manifest more of the same, the more these denied parts and emotions become amplified and seek our HERE and NOW to be played out.

Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” ― C.G. Jung

But it doesn’t matter if we suppress the so-called negative or not, because PLAYING OUT our wounding is a natural mechanism that happens anyway, suppression just makes it show up in a more amplified (in your face) way. Much like a temperature switch in household appliances that keeps them from overheating, allowing us to PLAY OUT our unresolved past has the same function, allowing us to try and heal it this time around. This is what the famous Carl Jung quote above refers to, whether we are aware of it or not the unconscious (the subconscious mind) creates our lived experience.

The snowball effect of accumulation

Before you think ‘Oh well, that’s good. Nature takes care of it all by itself as we are programmed to live out our wounding in an attempt to heal it in each incarnation.’, The reality is that we often don’t recognize our current life’s traumatic or painful experiences as an opportunity to heal, more often than not we see them as a new and separate thing that someone is doing to us, that we take personally.

This is obviously true on a current life level, we are being hurt and we cannot see the larger context this is happening in because we don’t have the conscious recollection of the unresolved past that is behind our current life experience. Be careful, to not interpret this as something that you have somehow manifested or that you are to blame for the painful experiences you have been through because both conclusions are incorrect. You didn’t manifest or create your painful experiences and you’re also not to blame that they have happened to you, that’s not what we are talking about here.

To make it even more complex, the wounding we are playing out doesn’t even really belong to us. It belongs to the past life expressions of our Soul, which is passed down to us through our Soul ‘lineage’ in much the same way that ancestral wounding is passed down through our Earth family lineage. The wounds we are healing aren’t the wounds we created, they are the wounds passed down from our past life predecessors. A process I explain in this Soul Teaching on Reincarnation.

We are not the same person incarnated over and over again, rather we share the same sense of I (sense of Self) with our past life predecessors. This is why the subconscious can’t differentiate between this lifetime or previous lifetimes because all memories are stored as belonging to the ‘self’, even though this so-called self is a different person each lifetime changing their gender, status, nationality, sexual preference, skin color, and so on.

Even though there is no homogeneous ‘self’ on an incarnation level, all the experiences of the incarnated self get uploaded to the higher sense of self (the Ahamkara) that is held within the Causal body, it’s there that they get thrown together as all the experiences belonging to the same self because this part of us has been with us throughout all of our lifetimes, but it’s not the part of us that actually incarnates. It’s a higher aspect of us that is tasked with the responsibility of overseeing our lifetimes and supporting us through each individual incarnation.

This means that you’re not being punished or rewarded for something you did right or wrong in a previous lifetime. There’s also no great scorekeeper in the sky that is making sure you get what’s coming to you both in negative or positive ways. We are the only ones executing our so-called karma. So if anything, it’s YOU who is still punishing the Self for something a past life predecessor did that they couldn’t forgive themselves for. You not knowing why or how, have simply ‘inherited’ this pattern of self-punishment because you share the same sense of self with all the previous incarnations of your Soul.

There’s no one to blame. Everyone was doing the best they could at that time with the level of understanding they had. It’s not that our past life predecessors refused to take responsibility for their own healing, but rather that like us they couldn’t see how their current life circumstances were connected to unresolved pain and trauma they were carrying from their past life predecessors and so they too took what happened to them personally.

This way, rather than healing their unresolved past, they added a new layer of unresolved trauma and pain to it which only made it accumulate more and more.

What once was merely a misinterpretation, has now evolved into all these different strands of wounding because of the snowball effect.

Here’s an example from a recent client session; a client sees themselves as dark and bad after splitting from Source. This idea of being ‘bad’ or ‘dark’ starts being PLAYED OUT in their galactic lifetimes, where their power is misused through the manipulation of others. The guilt around the consequences of this abuse of power and the feeling that they should have known better leads them to disown their power because they feel they don’t deserve such power.

The next lifetime is a very tribal one where the person now subconsciously believing they are powerless, is a cannibal that eats people not for nourishment but in the misguided belief that they can absorb the person’s super ‘power’ by eating them. They set out to kill the smartest, fastest, strongest, bravest, etc. person in the hopes of becoming smarter, stronger, faster, braver, etc. themselves.

This creates a conflict between the personality and the soul and in the next lifetime, the level of being ‘bad’ and violent becomes even bigger as the client is part of a Mongolian tribe and thrives on violence and hurting others weaker than them. When I have the client look at what made this person become like this, she sees that as a child his parents were murdered before his eyes by the leader who makes the child his protégé and molds him in his likeness. This creates a huge conflict within the self, as the child has to obey and follow in the footsteps of his parent’s killer. In the next incarnation, the (new) child that is being shown is convinced that the Devil is in his heart, he is even afraid to use his power because he is convinced that he is bad.

This is a perfect example of the snowball effect of wounding. I have reorganized the past lives from oldest to the most recent, which is the child that is convinced the Devil is in his heart – but within a session, the client will start at the end of a pattern i.e. the most recent lifetimes and then we peel back to the start of the pattern through the lifetimes in between to Atlantis, Lemuria, our galactic lifetimes (see example above) and ultimately the split from Source wound, which is our oldest and deepest wound.

What initially was merely a false interpretation, that they no longer belonged to the light because they had split off from Source became a violently lived reality and then an imprinted self-identification in a matter of four lifetimes because of the lived reality. None of these men or boys in my female client’s past lives knew they were living out a past life predecessor’s wounding. But now that we made these past life memories conscious within the Soul Embodiment® Therapy session, we can see very clearly how not only these wounds are passed down from past life predecessors but also how they become a lived reality.

Note for example that the internal conflict of the cannibal lifetime becomes the lived experience of the Mongolian warrior who is forced to live this split in his emotions through his outer circumstances of being groomed to follow in the footsteps of his parent’s killer. We may also judge the tribal man practicing cannibalism but he truly believed that by eating his enemies, he could absorb their ‘super’ powers which he needed to survive in the midst of the tribal wars that plagued his territory.

How we keep regurgitating the same wounding

The key point is, that we are regurgitating the same wounding in all of these lifetimes in between and also in our current lifetime.
It may accumulate and transform into something else, for example, in the above case the tail-end of the pattern that we were tracing was powerlessness because that was how the pattern was manifesting in my client’s life now, but the seeing the self as bad was intricately connected to the disownment of power which originated in the split from Source wound.

This was my first time working with this client, we still have two more Soul Embodiment® Therapy sessions to go as she bought a package. In those sessions, we will find other strands of wounding connected to her split from Source wound because all our wounding throughout all lifetimes is rooted in how we interpreted our split from Source and what we made this mean about the ‘self’, life, and the Divine.

It may seem as if we create new wounds, but only when we take them out of the context they belong in.

Seen in the context to which they belong we see that they are all different variations of the same theme being played out in different ways and from different perspectives, including the victim and the perpetrator’s perspective. In the above example of the client’s Soul Path history, there were more lifetimes at the beginning and the end that the client saw during the session that were variations of the same theme of powerlessness that weren’t centralized around the idea of ‘I am bad’ which was so prominent in the middle.

The original wound was this idea that in her split from Source, she had tipped backward and had fallen out of Oneness with the Divine and that she had somehow done it wrong, that it was all her fault that she had been split from Source, to begin with and that she somehow should have known better or done it better. Once split from Source, she felt that she had turned dark, longing to be reunited with the light she had split from.

I asked her, how it could be that if she belonged to that light, she could ever be dark herself, being a fragment of that light. She realized that this was never true from the beginning – she had always retained the light that is her essence as a drop that fell from this Source of light. Often the split from Source is shown to clients as a metaphor, rather than a lifetime because we were obviously not incarnated at that time. We were light beings, drops of consciousness floating around in our energetic or ethereal body state.

What I have found in my work with Soul Embdiment® Therapy is rather than having say a thousand different separate wounds that need to be healed individually, we have only a handful of wounds that are less than a dozen let’s say which are clustered in different themes that all share the same root cause. This is obviously oversimplifying it slightly, however, it is closer to the truth than the idea that we have a never-ending list of wounds that we could never even possibly heal in one lifetime. I know this for a fact because it’s not uncommon for me to go through ten, fifteen, or even twenty or more lifetimes with a client, which are all a regurgitation of the same pattern and wound.

The higher up we work in the Soul Path journey, the more we find the root cause of the deepest identifications of self. The lower we work within the Soul Path Journey, in other words, the closer we get to our current lifetime give or take a couple of millennia, the more we fully self-identify with them as the ‘truth’, based on the lifetimes in between where we solidified this belief about ourselves by LIVING OUT (which is essentially the same as playing out) these various identifications as if they were true, even though they were objectively false, to begin with.

It remains the same thing, that just goes through different stages of development. Basically, it goes through the four seasons:

  • starting with the spring where our belief is planted in the soil of the subconscious
  • it then grows during the summer when it is being lived out in our reality
  • in the fall it has become what we self-identify with
  • the winter is the final stage where we realize the belief was false, to begin with, and it returns to the nothingness it once was

It’s simply the whole ‘thoughts become things’ concept but then on a Soul Path or macro level, rather than a current incarnation level. Much of our current life work is then of course releasing these false identifications which needs to happen on three levels; a current life level, a past life level, and a Soul Path level. Because until they are released, we continue to LIVE THEM OUT in our reality.

Trauma the great agent of fragmentation

As we have seen in the previous segments of this Soul Path series, taking physical form aka incarnation has been a process of fragmentation. We split from Source, we split our masculine & feminine, and with the incarnation wound, we split off from our own Divinity. This is a process of fragmentation as we become less and less ‘whole’ in our journey of becoming human, that is in the sense of the wholeness we innately possess on a Soul level – which is our true Self but a better word is our true essence.

This is because trauma causes fragmentation and we have used trauma on a Soul Path level to be able to densify our energies from light beings into physical beings, to be able to play the incarnation game. Read Part I – Our Split From Source And How It Still Impacts Us Today to understand why we wanted to play the incarnation game, in the first place.

What is true on a macro level, is true on a micro level as well and so the fragmentation that we experienced to be able to take human form continued in the lifetimes in between. Every time that we experienced trauma, further fragmentation took place, and parts of our sense of self split off and became inaccessible to us. Think of our psychic gifts, our spiritual gifts, our healing gifts, but also power, beauty, femininity, or masculinity, beauty, happiness, wealth, self-esteem, and so on can become inaccessible to us because we subconsciously believe that it’s not safe to be or have them or because we believe that we don’t deserve or are worthy of being or having them. All such beliefs are trauma-based, which has caused us to separate ourselves from these innate qualities or Divine rights.

Very similar to how fragmentation can take place within varying degrees on a current incarnation level, which is also acknowledged by modern psychology in various models this same principle is applicable on the macro level of our Soul journey and Soul Path history where we also disown, cut-off or exile traumatized parts of ourself to protect the Self from being taken down with the part that has become wounded. It’s a protection mechanism that tries to ensure survival at all costs. However, each time this has happened on a Soul Path level we have lost another part of our true Self and wholeness, but this is also why we can’t have a thousand different Soul Path wounds because we would be fragmented beyond repair.

You could argue that certain psychological and psychiatric conditions may resemble this deeply fragmented state that seems to be beyond repair, but in all of the over a thousand sessions I have facilitated, I have always seen that not only everything is happening for our highest good, but to help us heal and facilitate our journey back home again to the Oneness from whence we came. Not a single Soul is lost in that process, no one is ever damaged beyond repair even when it can feel this way in the midst of their despair. There are no lost, black, or condemned souls, those are all figments of our imagination and a deep belief in the dark vs. the light narrative aka being stuck in a dualistic view of the world. In fact, we all have psychopathic, schizophrenic, narcissistic, etc, past life predecessors in our Soul lineage, conditions that no longer manifest themselves in our current reality because they have already been worked through and healed.

How to bring back all the split-off pieces of your ‘Soul’

So the question is then how do we bring back these split-off parts both on a current incarnation as well as a Soul Path level?

The answer is through therapy both on a current incarnation as well as a Soul Path level, in shamanic circles this is often referred to as ‘Soul retrieval’ which is an inaccurate word because the Soul is never lost or split, as the Soul stays immaculate and unscathed in the Soul realm. It’s the sense of self, the I which in Sanskrit is called the Ahamkara (the I-making) that gets bruised and battered during the incarnation process.

It’s also the sense of self that splits off parts and disowns them because of the pain they are in that they can’t process. They are put in quarantine as it were, waiting for a safer time and a greater sense of maturity and inner strength to be able to face them. This is true on a current life level and it is just as true on a Soul Path level.

That is why therapy is such a good place to retrieve these parts of ourselves because of the emotional safety that we often feel in the relationship with the therapist and their capacity to hold this sense of safety while revisiting the memories and experiences that made us feel very unsafe in the past, whether that is our current life past or our past life and Soul Path past.

An interesting phenomenon while working with past life and Soul Path wounding is the extent to which these revisited memories can feel as belonging to the self, this is because we share our sense of self with our past life predecessors. While at the same time, there is a deeper sense of identification to our current life wounding belonging to the self, because they belong to the current life self.

Parts of the self can also come back spontaneously through meeting people connected to the lifetime and the experience where the part split off, which I haven’t consciously experienced myself. Or through the foreign land that you are visiting, I have experienced this twice. The first time was in India, where I retrieved my Soul gift of being able to work on a Soul Path level which has culminated in the body of work that I have created today. The other time was during my first visit to Ibiza, Spain where I had a powerful retrieval in the old Castle of Ibiza perched on a cliff. My past seven-year connection with the island of Ibiza has been all about retrieving and being able to fully embody my femininity, as I have historically always been much more comfortable being in the masculine even on a Soul Path level.

Although various parts of the planet serve as Soul activation spots unique to our own Soul Journey, we cannot travel our way back into wholeness even though it would definitely be cool if we could. Rather, it has to be a combination of making the unconscious conscious, and conscious travel to the spots that call out to us.

Also making the unconscious conscious is not something we can do on our own, of course to a certain extent we can access lower-hanging fruit but the real stuff, the stuff that actually counts is held firmly under lock and key within our own subconscious memory. To get there we need to maneuver past our own protection and defense mechanisms, which is nearly impossible on our own because these are our absolute blind spots and the places where we hold our deepest pain. We need someone to help us navigate past them so that we can actually access them and see them for the misinterpretations they are.

I often liken them to the shadows on the wall that become monsters in a child’s imagination, in the same way, our deepest and most profound pain on a Soul Path level is nothing but shadows on the wall that we thought could harm us when this was never true, to begin with.

I pray this Soul Teaching has helped you understand the function of the lifetimes in between and the role they play in the different ‘seasons’ within the development of our wounding. What I have found in my work on a Soul Path level is that the lifetimes in between and the fragmentation that takes place are the different strands where we play out the various themes of our Soul Path wounding. They are the lifetimes where we play out different repeating patterns that connect our current life circumstances back to our Soul Path wounds. In my sessions with clients, I use them as a bridge to get back to their Soul Path wounding and help them close out these patterns that they have had on rinse and repeat throughout their entire incarnation journey.

This doesn’t mean that the lifetimes in between are inconsequential because they aren’t. They are an important piece of the puzzle to help us understand the pattern and neutralize all the lifetimes connected to them, but they are not the root cause of the pattern as the root cause of our deepest psychological patterns and subconscious programming lies at the heart of our Soul Path wounds; i.e. the split from Source wound, the split of the masculine & the feminine as well as the incarnation wound that solidified all previous wounding into the trauma lens through which we would perceive life, the Divine and ourselves.

With my deepest love,
