Kundalini Awakening

Within the spiritual community, there’s always much buzz about awakening the Kundalini energy within oneself as well as many misconceptions around what this really means. To some, it is thought to be about the height of sexual pleasure while others see it as the ‘grand prize’ within their spiritual journey that they chase blindly at all costs. Yet both of these projections and everything in between is our ego’s interpretation of it, which is merely seeking to fulfill its egoic desires and hijacking our ‘spiritual journey’ while it’s at it. Not that our egoic desires are bad or don’t have their place in our lives, they are simply not the highest truth of who we really are and our soul evolution. Therefore the ego or personality cannot grasp this concept completely and will always project its unfulfilled needs onto it.

True Kundalini awakening is about the inner marriage of the higher and lower self, the merging of the ego and the soul into an inner union which also requires the inner marriage of the Divine Feminine and the Divine Masculine, the inner Hieros Gamos.

Once the Kundalini has risen up and unlocked the crown chakra, the state is permanent, but in order to achieve this true and lasting awakening, one has to purify themselves deeply of their samskara which is our unresolved trauma and karma not only from this lifetime but also trauma and karma passed on through the ancestral lineage as well as from our previous lives.

Samskara meaning in Hinduism & Buddhism: a mental conformation or latent karmic tendency shaping one’s present life.

When we bypass this purification process or are not aware of its importance the force of the Kundalini energy amplifies these energies that have created blocks in both the chakras and the nadis. This amplifies all our unresolved emotions, from our current life, our past lives, and the unresolved pain we took on from our ancestral lineages which can lead to mental health issues including psychotic episodes as a side effect.

People can have a Kundalini awakening of sorts, but only when we have truly purified ourselves is the pathway (Sushumna) for the Kundalini energy to rise up through – open, and can the Kundalini energy rise up from the root chakra to the crown unhindered. As long as one has not truly addressed one’s unresolved pain, which is part of the unresolved karma one carries this pathway is partially blocked and the Kundalini energy exacerbates what is being held in the energetic blockage in order to bring it up for healing.

However, because it is difficult for people to see how their external reality is connected to their inner process most people don’t recognize that they are living out an aspect of their own unresolved past. This is the literal meaning of the Buddhist and Hinduistic term samskara; a mental conformation or latent karmic tendency shaping one’s present life. Trying to raise the Kundalini energy without addressing one’s unresolved pain is therefore asking for problems because it amplifies what was left unresolved.

This is why the focus should be on healing our unresolved and often deeply held subconscious pain because doing so in the right way accelerates the Kundalini Awakening process, which is the next step in our Divine Human evolution.
