“The dark stone looks as though a tiger is crouched behind it. The tree root seems as though it conceals a dragon (暗石疑藏虎，盘根似卧龙).”
Yu Xin (庾信)
This morning I went to my acupuncturist whom I had not seen in a couple of weeks. He told me that we were in the year of the Water Tiger (Chinese New Year was Tuesday, February 1, 2022) which lasts until January 21st, 2023. If you Google ‘The year of the Water Tiger’ you will find a lot of general information about this year. He told me some special information about the upcoming year as he said that it was a year of change and of the ability to find resolution to our biggest challenges or struggles.
He advised me to break routines, do things differently, move the furniture around to help break deeply conditioned patterns inside. Change up everything, where you go to walk, the restaurants you go to eat, the color of your hair. Because by doing things differently, we can see things differently, which allows us to approach life differently.
It sounded like sound advice that needed to be passed on, so you’re welcome…
Aside from needles to ‘up the energy’ as he puts it to help me recover after having the flu recently, he put needles in two less commonly used acupuncture spots named the ‘Spirit Gate’ and the ‘Gate of Life’ or also called the ‘Gate of Destiny’ to help me in my spiritual healing process. I found two small excerpts that I linked with their sources to explain the metaphysical powers of these points.
‘The Heart is the pure expression of the spirit, full of curiosity, animation, and the potential for unconditional love and acceptance. Treatment of the Heart is aimed at bringing a person back to that original, childlike state of innocence and openness. The acupuncture point HT-7 “Spirit Gate” is the expression of this state. It opens us to our divine spirit and its path in life.’ Source: Nicolas Sieben
“There is surely no point name more exalted than Mingmen – Gate of Life. It goes to the very core of our existence on this plane, our life itself. It is a very powerful point that accesses the gate where we emerge from the void with our essence, our constitution, and our destiny. This point can help us reach our full potential and fulfill our destiny. Mingmen is a remarkable point for revitalization. It can reconnect us with our essence, raise us to a new level of consciousness, and support the achievement of our highest potential. It is a point that helps us connect us with our original nature.’ Source: Acupressure.com.au
Who knew acupuncture went this deep?! I didn’t. despite the fact that I have been getting acupuncture for the past 20+ years or so. But, I am happy to now have an acupuncturist that explains to me these special points that I don’t think any previous practitioners ever needled before.
It just goes to show you that you always get the support at the level that you need in every stage in life. Twenty and more years ago I think one of my first experiences with acupuncture was to help me quit smoking, which was successful but yeah that was where I was at back then – willing to let go of the smokescreen that helped me not see how much my life sucked! I got divorced shortly after because now I was willing to admit that this man was not going to change, not for me and not for our children. I worked hard on myself in the years since then and now the acupuncture I am getting is helping me unlock my true soul essence.
What a blessed life we live.
